Geography

Located in the eastern part of the continent of Asia, on the western Pacific Rim, China, is the 4th largest nation in the world and the largest situated completely in Asia. In addition, this country has the longest land border than any other country- 14 countries and 2 territories share a land border with China. China also holds the Tibetan Plateau which forms the highest part of the country, known as the 'roof of the world'. Mount Everest, on the border with Nepal, is the world’s tallest peak above sea level.

Politics

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) is a semi-presidential socialist republic run by a single party, the Chinese Communist Party or CCP. This party created and leads the People's Liberation Army.

  • Unicameral National People's Congress or Quanguo Renmin Daibiao Dahui -2,987 seats. Members indirectly elected by municipal, regional, and provincial people's congresses, and the People's Liberation Army. Members serve 5-year terms.

Economics

China, often called the "World's Factory," is the largest manufacturing economy and exporter of goods and one of the fastest-growing global economies. It is also the world's fastest-growing consumer market and second-largest importer of goods. This country is a net importer of services products and is presently playing a prominent role in international trade.
