This city is the most populous city in the world and is located at the central coast of China. Everybody knows Shanghai (上海) for its sophisticated skylines such as the Shanghai Tower (which is the tallest skyscraper of China), traditional colonial buildings and savory “la mian”(宋氏养生部) or sweet and sour ribs (糖醋小排). It is also famous for its international charm and for being one of the most important financial hubs in the world.

Although there is some friendly rivalry between Shanghai and Beijing about who offers a greater skyline and more thrilling nightlife, it would be fair to say that both cities have something different and special, and they are impossible to compare. Moreover, don’t be surprised if you observe some women walking along the Shanghainese streets wearing their eye-catching pyjamas all-year-round because these ladies, at the end of the day, are what Shanghai is all about: its hospitable and open-minded Shanghainese people, who give that original, flamboyant and lively twist that this fast-pace and vigorous city is characteristic for.
