Hi Lynz,

What is the registered address on your licence? If it is a UK one then fill out the renewal details and send it, via a courier not letter post, to the DVLA and get it sent to that UK address. It usually takes about two weeks for the renewal so that should give you enough time to get it processed.

Do not pre-book any hire car until you have a full valid licence because it will be refused and if you've paid a deposit you'll lose it. I use hire cars all the time and some of my work colleagues have been caught out by this very thing - mainly with UK based rental firms.

Hi,

I think you will be better off renewing it in the U.K. with regards to the car hire, I'm not too sure if they will accept it ! but there is no harm in trying .
