Hi
Shush Tv is now available through the internet, so if you have a good connection this will work and you will get alot more channels other than sport, sky and BBC, ITV ones.
This can also be sent to your TV for ease of watching.
Shipshape Pafos are releasing across the island...Thanks

Hi Baxi,

Just to clarifiy: If you have an analogue set you'll need to buy a digibox to receive the digital services. The output of the digibox will connect to the scart socket on your TV. UK only specification set-top boxes will not work here.

If you are considering buying a new TV then check the digital decoder is already built into the set, if it is then you won't need the set-top box.

Yes, you will be able to watch the World Cup on the Cyprus TV channels. No problem.

We can get good reception with just an indoor aerial!

And as far as the football is concerned, if you so wish you'll mostly be able to pick up live commentary in English on the radio.

For sure you'll have no need for a digibox in Cyprus within the next 12 months - and even then, ex-UK ones won't generally work here (wrong set-up).

However if you buy a new TV, you're unlikely to need a digibox at all!

Sorry forgot to add for the techies.

They will be using MPEG4 AVC transmission. Initially there will be four digital TV channels plus several radio stations. The system has been designed to allow expansion and when finances permit more TV & radio services will be added.

Hi Baxi,

The simple answer is yes.

The first digital licence for Cyprus was handed to CyBC, the second sold by auction to a private operator. Transmissions are already underway, they started officially this month, although tests have been ongoing for sometime. The Government set July of next year as the date to switch off analogue broadcasts although that, to me, seems a little too soon.

TSte, the above doesn't help you with World Cup coverage if you have a good internet connection that could be the easier option and watch matches that way.

Analogue CyBC is a telly and aerial, in Nicosia you should receive it without too much trouble.

tk , some one said cyprus is going digital in 2010 , if so does it mean we will require a digi box the same as the uk ? .

Most probably the CYBC will show it. You don't have to buy a license to watch Cyprus channels.

You only need to have a tv and one antenna to get all the Cyprus Channels and that's it.
