There is no British Embassy in Nicosia, it is a High Commission.

Look here http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en/about-us/our-high-commission/contact-us/

Well IF you are British then you do need to send application via madrid you can find application with all document requirements online at http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/passports/ you do not need to get a British birth certificate you can summit a cypriot one which is much cheaper. I dont really see the need for getting passports of both nationality at this point. Usually go for the mothers or whichever one is most relevent for where you want to live or travel. Good luck.

You need to go to nicosia to get the british birth certificate and then you need to send to madrid for british passport the paper work for this you get online just google british passport and yes you should get both because if the turkish invade cyprus again the british government will only repatriate the british passport holders
