Thanks all - seems as though it's pretty much as in the UK then. I'll try the Min of Finance to start with and see how we go.

Cheers

Hi CMJG,

I think the method you describe of using a book of cloakroom tickets for the raffle is okay as long as its a private party/function. If I understood Graham's original post correctly. it is for a public raffle ie: anyone, anywhere in Cyprus could in theory buy a ticket. If that is the case then, like Nigel wrote, I'm sure a licence would be needed.

A lot of charities raise funds with a raffle at dinner dances, functions etc. They don't go for licences, they get raffle ticket books from shops and sell them. A licence is probably necessary but I don't know of anyone who has got one in the past. Good luck and raise lots of money. C

Hi Graham,

Can't help directly, so it could be time for a call to the Ministry of Finance in Nicosia or try their website. http://www.mof.gov.cy/mof/mof.nsf/All/DFAB516B5D7FB6E0C22570C00041DDD6?OpenDocument&highlight=lottery.

They are responsible for this type of activity.

Hi Graham,

Yes, you do need a licence here in Cyprus. But I don't know the details.

Cheers,
