Hi timg,

Will your friend be able to sell the property without paying the Property Transfer Fees? No.

In order to sell a property, you need to be its legal owner. To become its legal owner, its title needs to be registered in your name. To get its title registered in your name, you need to pay the Property Transfer Fees.

Your friend will also be liable for Capital Gains Tax on any gain resulting from the sale.

For information on importing vehicles, boats, etc, visit the Cyprus Customs & Excise website at http://www.mof.gov.cy/mof/customs/customs.nsf/index_en/undefined

We bought a Nissan Navara Twin Cab Pick up over from the UK IN Feb 2008 and we had to pay duty of 697 euros.

Can't comment on the pickup but he will not be charged Duty on the boat if it has come from an EU country.
