Yes - I saw that and emailed the law firm that brought the action congratulating them. It is good news, but it raises a couple of issues:

1. It took ELEVEN years. Is that justice? According to Article 47 (Right to an effective remedy and to a fair trial) of the Charter of Fundamental Human Rights of the European Union:

"Everyone is entitled to a fair and public hearing within a reasonable time by an independent and impartial tribunal previously established by law. Everyone shall have the possibility of being advised, defended and represented."

I would hardly call eleven years a reasonable time.

2. It gets the Cyprus government off the hook as it avoids them having to introduce legislation to cover the sale of mortgaged property - as there is now a legal remedy.

Regards,
