The fruit usually splits when the tree has been deprived of water, then has plenty. [The same thing happens with tomatoes]. This may not reflect your 'watering' schedule, but the conditions at the time.

Perhaps the trees required more water this year compared to the same period in 2009? After all, 'summer' has dragged on.

Last year my orange trees and tangerine trees gave a great crop, this year my orange trees are great, but a third of my tangerines are splitting, they are all watered the same as last year, I am not a commercial grower these are just three trees i have in my garden i cannot understand what is happening the same as yourself SORRY
