Yes, do visit Jordan. And yes, it's easy to book your own hotels.

Very rich history and culture, lots of sites worth seeing in Amman, Petra and elsewhere. But as Achilleas says, you can't go to Jordan and not visit Petra!

Yes - it was fantastic. This is what we did ...
Day 1 - Amman - Any good hotel is OK - visit the suq (markets) and just enjoy the cityDay 2-3 - Petra - You have to go here - be prepared to walk a lot and have good walking shoes. Stayed at the Movenpick Petra hotel - excellent.Day 3-4 - Dead Sea - Stayed at the Movenpick Dead Sea Spa hotel - again excellent - you have to try the spa!Day 5 - Left
Near the dead sea, within 30 mins drive, there are mosaics and other places to see.
Airport to Amman - about 30 minsAmman to Petra - about 3-4 hoursPetra to Dead Sea - about 3 hoursDead Sea to Airport - about 45 mins
