cyprustkcyprus passports are about 50 euros

Very true! But I would need to be "sworn in" right? Which I believe costs money to change your nationality & also takes time.. I left things too late :S

You can use an ID card to travel within the EU providing you have the nationality of the country that issued it. I have a Cyprus ID card, but because it says my nationality is British I can't use it for travel within the EU.

if your cypriot id is a european id then you can travel anywhere in europe with it and come back also.

Hi I was told by the Swedish Embassy that I could travel on my cy id card out of Cyprus but as it says Swedish nationality would not be allowed back in .
It would have to say Cypriot nationality.

Suggest you check with Immigration first, or take both id and passport with you just in case.
