Thailand: wonderful country, wonderful people. Oodles of culture; magnificent history; incredible sights.

Easy for holidays, somewhat more complex for living and working.

Work permits etc. you really need a local to accompany you to immigration. Laws: even enforcement of seatbelt laws tends to be more restrictive/expensive where foreigners are concerned.

Culture demands respect of those older - even by one day. Can be difficult and demands a very tactful response in a work environment if the 'elder' is not particularly knowledgeable or efficient.

Siamese fighting fish in cups on the desk are a norm - as is eating almost all day in the office!

Monsoon rains are very predictable; also have terrible timing (usually as you are going to or from work).

Some great tailoring and shopping bargains. V. fast tailoring service too.

Fantastic food, lots of 'local' holiday opportunities.

There are AngloINFOs covering areas of Thailand. If you go to www.angloinfo.com you will see the list of different sites available. There are bound to be people on these sites that can help you.
