The District Veternary Offices for Limassol are near the New Port. To the left - off the roundabout before the port coming from Omonia Avenue, best approached from behind the big new buildings. One of the most helpful government departments we have dealt with. You don't need to present the dog, just the health book, microchip details (get those from your vet) and preferably a picture of the dog.

Once you have registered your dog, you need to also notify the Mukhtar of your village or District, and then pay the appropriate Dog Licence fees annually. In the sad event of your dog dying, you are "supposed" to get a notice of same from your vet, and inform the Veterinary Office that the dog is deceased.

I don't believe that there is a Central registry yet. The vet who did the micro-chip will keep details (age, breed etc).

If the dog has been registered with the District Veterinary Services there will also be a record of the dog and corresponding chip, but if you don't know which district the dog was registered in (or maybe it wasn't even registered at all), then you will be out of luck.

We adopted a stray 3 years ago, he is microchipped, but no vet that we have been to in Limassol has a record of this chip number. He wasn't registered with the District Veterinary services either, we have a vague idea of his age, but that is all.

Also, I don't know if there is a different system for registering dogs within the SBA's?

Good luck,
