Hi We flew our dog over with BA from Manchester. BA do not fly from Manchester now but Cyprus Airways is another company that fly out animals. We did it ourselves. We went to the vets beforehand to have him chipped and have his rabies injections and then his booster which enabled him to get his pet passport. Then a couple of days before flying we went back for a final check up. You need to do this at least 6 months before flying. We bought a pet carrier over the internet which was appropriate for air travel. We then took him with us to the airport. He checked in with us and then taken to the loading bay by a member of staff. As we got on the plane we asked one of the cabin crew if our dog was ok and he came back to us to tell us he had had a drink and was settled. Our dog was a 10 year old Shit zhu and it cost us less than 100GBP as the price went on weight of the dog. When we arrived at Paphos we had to pick him up on arrival and take him to our new home. Really easy and cheap if you do it yourself. Some of the pet travel companies charge an awful lot of money for something that if you do yourself is really cheap and easy. Hope that this helps and that everything goes ok with your pet.

Hello marie,

we have just done this recently in dec 09 and we flew our dog out with thomas cook they was really good and he arrived safe and well despite me being a nervous wreck about the whole thing ! we booked through a animal airline company called JETSET PETS they are on the internet and speak to GILL, they were fantastic they do it all for you and will get you on the same flight if available .

Thomson airlines, BA, cyprus airways all fly animals , you can call them drect but the response i recieveD was to go through a animal airline company instead but cyprus airways definately deal with it direct but if you go down this route make sure you get all your paper work correct before as there is alot of it and we found it better to let the proffesionals do it and then there were no problems to worry about. Hope you get it sorted and good luck .

best wishes

karen
