Check up if you have protection juredique on your house insurance - if you have then let them handle it, as soon as the reluctant garagistes have an official letter from their legal bods it'll get fixed pronto.

thanks for your reply.  The CT did say the exhaust needed fixing, they have done a bit of it, probably to shut us up, but we have found holes everywhere, and a gobbed up join which will last 5 minutes.  The exit is under the vehicle, and we wont drive it!

If you have been given a 3 month guarantee then go back and politely point out that it needs a new exhaust.

If you feel that it has not been tested properly, then firstly speak to the garage and if they refuse to help, threaten them with going to the authorities about it.

There are too many dodgy CT testers around.

Perhaps get another mechanics opinion first to guage support for your concerns.
