That is because the parking is free just as it says. We parked 100 metres up from BF in the next car park which was once used for Jersey sailings and where the restaurant Extra Muros is. Totally free as it has alwaye been in winter between certain dates.

Rance: that web site does seem to indicate parking at the port is still free at this time of year.

Pilot: what makes you think it is now chargeable all year? Have you been recently? I know web sites can easily become out of date.

Regardless of what was said, there is plenty of free parking close to the ferry port in Saint Malo until Fete de Rammeau (20th March)

I left mine there for a few days in mid November, there were plenty of spaces available even though arrived much later than planned for the morning ferry about 1/2hr before sailing, probably about the same now as outside of holiday periods.

Unfortunately no there is no free parking at St Malo anymore. And it's very expensive.

Hmmmm.... Was there a large party of school kids being seen off by their parents?

out of interest .... Is parking still free at St. Malo port this time of year?

We travel on the first boat of the day, once in March and once in October.  The car park always seems to be nearly full.
