There is a fantastic Bastile day in Malestroit. They have it on the banks of the canal, and it has everything.

During the day they have a sort of carnival thing going on , with all the games that children and parents love. The meal starts about 6 pm (the meal is opitional, you buy a ticket for about €15),  with the fireworks as soon as it gets dark

. There is traditional music and dancing, with a few modern bands in between. All in all its a great day for all the family.

Most villages and smaller towns hold their celebrations for France National Day during the weekend before 14th July.  Redon is on 13th July à la tombée de la nuit (dusk).  La Gacilly and Limerzel are also on 13th July.
