Your IBAN number contains your account number.as well as your bank sort code.

I did convert to euros first, then transferred to CA. As usual the bank is closed today (Monday), I will have to query it tomorrow with them.

What I did find strange with Currencyfair was the information I gave to them was IBAN, name etc, but there was nowhere to put my account number.

Perhaps I have messed up somewhere ! Thanks for all the replies !

Have used Currencyfair for years to transfer £sterling into euros then the euros to either the CMB or CIC banks.  Have only ever been charged 3 euros by Currencyfair and have never paid any fee by the french receiving banks.  You will have to take this up with your french bank.

Used Currencyfair since they started up.3 euros and NEVER a charge at the receiving bank. Something very wrong with your experience.

Either you did something wrong or CA have a blip in the system - there shoudnt be a charge for bank trans. of euros.  - thats why we use an exchange co.

I have done this many atime , Also recieved payments from Euro clients as bank trans - no charge!
