I'm not entirely sure what the probem is, but it looks as though I have some movement in the structure of the house. Ii really do need a surveyor or a structural engineer to identify what the underying problem is and what needs to be done about it.

If it's structural, why not get the appropriate type of artisan/specialist in - a roofer if it's a roof problem, a timber treatment firm if it's a timber problem, etc.

Thanks Countrydweller.  It's a house problem, not boundaries.  I'd like to find out more about it - hopefully discover I'm worrying about nothing  - before I think about insurance.

I assume you are talking about a physical problem with the house as opposed to its boundaries. If the former there are surveyors who advertise on here but normally most French people call in the local builder as he will know the area re the type of soil local building material etc.Obviously if it is a serious structural problem what about your house insurance?
