I have been refused opening UK bank accounts by both NATIONWIDE and today by YORKSHIRE BUILDING SOCIETY on the grounds that I am not resident in UK.  I did open an account about nine months ago with HSBC even though when I tried to open it online I was refused because of my address.  About a week later I received a letter with the account opened.  It's all a bit complicated
