thank you for your query. as i have not lived in the US for many years, i suspect you maybe correct. I was only inferring an opinion about state-wide elections based on the embassy website which asked for state of residence. So i thought that plus my last known US address may be enough to qualify for virginia state elections too. But laws change so dunno yet.

Have fired off an email to voteparis@states.gov (listed on the us embassy website) to clarify. If you do so too, we might ave a better heads-up on this issue.

Hi Jimbo99

Thank you very much for your service in the US Armed Forces; we are very grateful.    Help me understand; I thought if you do not file a state tax return you could not vote in state elections.  As I file only a US Federal tax return, I am able to vote only in Federal elections.   Is that correct?
