The ferry service between St Nazaire and Gijon no longer runs.  The ferry "Norman Atlantic" worked the route and was operated by LD Lines but after the company cancelled the route (and others) it was chartered by ANEK Lines from the owners Visemar di Navigazione.  The ferry operated routes in the Adriatic until it caught fire in the Strait of Otranto on 28 December 2014 causing major damage and an international rescue operation.  The fire is thought to have been started by illegal immigrants lighting a fire on the car deck to keep warm.  The fire rapidly spread out of control because the underwater intake valve for the ship's sprinkler system was clogged with mussels.

There is a one way ferry - Roscoff to Bilbao on Mondays,  only bookable through the French site of BF. You have to drive back.

As far as I know that's the only boat to Spain these days

It is an LD lines route but they have been in "discussions" with the port authorities for several months & no end in sight. It is very annoying as we had planned to come home from Portugal using them & will now have to do the long drive back.
