We took that same ferry about 2 months ago and somebodies dog was let out of their automobile and jumped off the boat and tried to swim to France.

We were terrified that someone would let the dogs out especailly when they were on a deck open to the sea. When you think about it it would be very easy for any potential crook to hide themselves in a vehicle and go walk about after the ship has sailed. BF says that decks are patrolled but I am a little sceptical about this after no-one picked up that our dogs were distressed after being placed on a ramp on a hot evening  earlier this year and reception staff did not have the ability to open  the door that deck.

It might be an idea to invest in a more ferocious looking dog.

Yep-I could make a quick getaway in the wheelchair! How many people would challenge someone rummaging in a car's glovebox and casually strolling away?

BUT-many times we have been in the car before the announcement to go down. The place is often deserted and then, in dribs and drabs, people come down. It could be anyone stealing from a car.

Cumbrian, if your Scenic is like ours, you don't need to turn the engine in, just the ignition.
