I suggest you try this company www.medibroker.co.uk  they have access to numerous companies and when I first moved here I used them paying monthly for a policy and I was able to cancel(as I had not made a claim) when I joined CMU It could take another 3 months from when you apply to get accepted into CMU.

And most insurance companies will pay hospitals direct in fact I would avoid any that do not.

Banks are affiliated with insurance companies and will offer any level of cover, top up or full.

Ie CA are affiliated to Pacifica.

tigre - I know that it's not only French banks that offer top-up.  I should have said that French banks only offer top-up and not full private healthcare.

Reveuse all private health care here is tied into the health system, if it's not how do they pay, i don't think the hospitals will invoice directly if not thus the people will have to pay up front and then reclaim via their insurance, timely and expensive.

Suziepops, the people are talking about living in France, they need to get insurance that is recognised here. I'm not thinking about top up

Suziepops, It's not only french banks that do top up insurance, there are other companies that offer it.

Entre nous, don't forget that the private health care policies take in to account existing medical conditions, so it would be worth shopping around.

I think Burt Lancaster may have mis-read the OP because he seems to be referring to top-up insurance cover and not private healthcare.

"remember also that the company has to be tied in with the french health system otherwise you will not get any monies back."

I don't understand this - how can a private health insurance company get away with offering cover, taking your money and then refuse to provide the cover you've paid for?

I thought French banks only did top-up insurance.

The field is wide open, lots to choose from, it comes down to what you want cover wise. Use any of the French Banks, Insurance companies, or health care specialists. Much of a muchness in terms of cost to cover ratio. Do not try and go via a Uk company or an ex pat service as like all things you will pay through the nose for the service just because they speak English.

remember also that the company has to be tied in with the french health system otherwise you will not get any monies back.

Good Luck
