Try the hospital, it will probably be quicker, we have used both general, and the polyclinic, both done in reasonable time.  If it is urgent and your doctor rings for you, you will get one very quickly, but  I have waited 6 months for the one in carhaix, because it was routine not urgent.

I agree with mondayschild1 - I have seen my GP and he wanted me to see the cardio (in Carhaix) and he phoned him while I was in his surgery and I had an appointment within 3 hours - that's happened twice. Both appointments were after 7pm

You could ask your doctor to make an appointment for you. I saw the cardiologist that you are talking about last year, within 24 hours of my doctor making an appointment.

If you have an ordananceyou can see any cardiologist you want.

Yes, of course you can go to another one. The prescription (ordonnance) is for a cardiograph not for a visit to a particular clinic or doctor.

You could try the Polyclinique at Kerio.  I would think that if can arrange an earlier appointment your Med Trai will agree.

Did your doctor specify the cardiologue in Pontivy?  Normally the doctor issues the ordonnance and you make the appointment yourself with the cardiologue of your choice.  I usually ask the doctor or his receptionist for suggestions.

No you can see another but you will only be reimbursed 30% by CPAM as your visit will be "unauthorized by your Generalist(e)". Far better to talk to him/her & ask their opinion.

In my experience of the French Health System you are never obliged to stick to one doctor or dentist and in the case of seeing a specialist I have always been given a choice. If you can not find one in the Pontivy area there are several in Vannes including the area adjacent to the Clinique Oceane Hospital which is on the road from Pontivy to Vannes - look in Pages Jaunes for names. Just make sure you cancel the May appointment if you make amother.
