I have Vista . I have tried microsoft security systems but that didn't do a great job.

I haven't had any viruses on my computer since I paid for Avast and I NEVER open files/messages/adons /attachements on e-mails UNLESS I know who they are from personally.

The computer guy told me that the viruses came from free avast not doing it's job properly  - trojan horse etc which I never clicked anything for this to happen.

I was asking about bitdefender and nothing else thanks.

You do not say what operating system you are using but Microsoft Security Essentials is FOC for XP, Vista and 7 and built into Windows 8.

You might want to add a free anti-malware like SUPERAntiSpyware but other than that you do not need third party AV if you use the Security Essentials software.

If you really are getting lots of viruses then you need to alter your Internet behaviour. STOP opening email attachments and THINK before you click on stuff.
