I guess Winda1 was probably thinking about your options for healthcare, because the French healthcare system doesn't work the same as the NHS. Being resident here doesn't  automatically entitle you to free state healthcare. If you're on a UK state pension you're OK. Otherwise if you're accepted into the state healthcare system you can pay contributions in France as a percentage of your income. But there is a minimum annual income level for being eligible to join and if you're literally living from savings, you might find it hard to prove the minimum income requirement.

The other option is private health insurance..

Hi Winda1,

The only income we will have is from savings & private investments.   Does that make a difference???

Cheers!

Yep, the most significant thing about changing status from visitor to resident is the boring stuff like sorting out your healthcare, and your finances, and all the things that go with changing from one country's (familiar) set of legislation to another's (unfamiliar, bit of a learning curve to get through). But the info is all on the info pages, you just need to pick out the bits that apply to your particular circumstances.

If you've spend years at the house already, you presumably know what you need to live there day to day, that's not going to change.
