GeorgeV, I've got a HP dx2250 Minitower that originally came with XP Pro that has successfully updated to Windows 10, even the dual monitor GeForce video card drivers were updated.

You could be right there Fitter as the English reminds me of the man from the Microsoft Helpline.

I doubt the HP compaq dc7700p form factor can be successfully upgraded to Windows 10.  I think it was built with Windows XP.  Computers run best with the operating system and software they were originally designed for.

We all like the latest but it is often a disaster unless you also upgrade the hardware.

Rollback the Windows 10 to what you had before and reassess. It is unlikley you need new Hardware - more likely the drivers  have not yet been ported.

Despite the hype windows 10 will not be completely stable for at least another few months. This is, sadly, the typical Microsoft trick of having their customers do the bug testing.
