No it's not normal.

First thing to do is to check that the cable from the box to the TV is firmly in at both ends I'm guessing that you're using a Scart lead, if you have a TV with an HDMI socket, use HDMI to connect the box to the TV, it'll be much better.

Check also that the volume from the box is turned up resonabley high, a comon cause of hum is having the volume from the box turned right down and the TV turned up to compensate.

If neither of the above help, try unplugging all other electrical stuff near by and see if that solves the problem. If it does you can turn stuff back on till the hum returns and then remove the cause.

There's a small chance of scart cable picking up hum from an adjacent power cable so untangle the spaggetti behind the telly
