If you are advised to replace your pouzzolane by SPANC, for example, then I think the modern equivalent is strange shaped bits of plastic such as shown on the following link:

Why do you want to replace them? They just need washing off with a hose - at least annually.

Take the lid off the rock filter unit - and lift out the (probably plastic) inner container. Spread a plastic sheet out on a slope, tip the rocks out onto it, and hose them thoroughly to wash off all the goo attached to them.  Then it's Marigolds on, and replace everything. Job done!

There is no need to buy 'replacement' rocks, just wash off your existing ones. Needs to be done (at least) annually.

Remove the lid of the rock filter unit - lift out the (probably plastic) container with the rocks inside. Spread a plastic sheet on the ground somewhere suitable (ie preferably sloping site, rough grass), tip the rocks onto it & spread them out. Use a garden hose to thoroughly wash them off. Marigolds on, and replace everything. Job done!
