Go to BartyB at Rostrenen and get 1 of the Manhatton boxes.

We now have 3 in separate rooms and have gad no trouble whatsoever, other than they are more clever than us!

Had a Humax box now for years with no problems whatsoever. Records, picture is good, EPG whilst not as good as Sky is fast and easy to use.

We bought a Humax two years ago, and had nothing but trouble with it.  We had bought it from a local firm, so went to them for help.  He was reluctant to do anything about it, said it wasnt worth sending back to the makers as if they said there was nothing wrong with it we would have to pay for their trouble, and they wouldnt change it.   Eventually he agreed to take it back to the factury settings, which only took about an hour but would kill all our recordings, but it has worked fairly well since.  There are still occasional problems, I have trouble recording two items when one is bbc, unless it is on High Definition.  It seems to count the regional BBC at the end of its list as well as the BBC at the beginning, so appearing to be doing two channels already.  Funnily enough sometimes you can watch ITV3 as well as recording two things.

For all its problems it is still the best and cleanest picture available.

I agree with Blythe_Mentorn.

Humax is rubbish. The remote is not responsive. It misses recordings. The instructions say you  can watch a programme and record TWO at the same time - this is not true. The 'search' facility is poor and very long-winded.

Avoid it. It really is bad.

Steer clear of Humax. They are having problems with yet another software update:

Thinking of getting a Freesat Recorder (Humax) box.

1)  Is it essential to have 2 cables from the LNB to record and watch different programs at the same time or can we use a cable splitter? you have to have 2 cables from the dish.

2)  Do you have to connect the box to the internet to record? no!

3)  Do you have to connect to the internet to watch catch up TV?  yes

Please reply in non tech language as really still in the iron age!
