Charging overnight is bad advice.

Never leave a device like a tablet or phone unattended when on charge, especially if you are asleep. They can catch fire, and if they do it may well be severe.

We charge ours in the morning when we're around doing the chores.

I have a Galaxy note 10.1. It usually takes around 3 hours to fully charge.

I suggest once you are up and running you consider dowloading Battery Doctor, free on play store. It will chime when its fully charged then, and give a second chime after its completed a final trickle charge which is recommended to maintain optimum performance.

Dont worry about the full charge thing.. Just use it and give it a full charge overnight.
