Ok - I don't do gardening - plants etc. I'm the mechanical gardener!

But- this sounds like some sort of mildew if it's white and  doesn't involve aphids?

Not wolly aphids, the leaves look moth-eaten but are not curled at all; there is also no movement nor clusters of any sort, just a dense covering of isolated white spots about a half or so millimetre in size
