The "Loi Chatel 2" specifies that you can terminate your mobile phone contract early providing you have been using their services for at least 12 months and the contract was signed after June 1st  2008

The maximum fine the company can charge you is 25% of the contractual cost normally payed when you stick with them.  So if you have 10 clear months to go on your contract, allowing for one months notice and the 10 days delay and, for example, your contract is 40 Euro a month then you will have to pay 100 Euro.

You need to end the contract by "Lettre recommandée avec accusé de reception" and there is a 10 day delay in implementing your request starting when the phone company receives the letter.
