Thanks for the reply.  We have just done that but had to borrow the neighbours phone.   They say there are problems all over Brittany.

The phone line is via Orange that included the internet by dial up (which was mega slow!!)  .  However, because we have a terribly slow dial up internet (Orange) we purchased a dongle (Bougies Telecom) and have been using that for a couple of months. It's seperate to our phone.

Because we do not wish to have the mega slow dial up via  Orange internet any more I cancelled this the other day.  They are charging us £20.00 plus a week and we never use it.  I told them that we still want the telephone line.  Now it seems our phone is dead and want to use it and report that it is not working as mentioned before.  .Sorry, what is VOIP.

What is it exactly you are trying to do?

You are clearly on the internet now so if the net and the phone was disconnected, you would be unable to post here, surely.

Did you have a separate landline or did you rely on VOIP? If it's the latter it's not surprising that you have lost your phone connection.
