Forgot to mention ,the German paint they have now and again in lidl is as good as anything I've ever bought in the uk and the paint you can get mixed at brico depot or casta or Leroy merlin is comparable in price to uk and just as good.

French paint is still over priced and not a touch on British paint, we should know we are in the trade.

Try Tollens or Sikkens good French paint, do not buy cheap paint from Brico shops!

Paper might bubble but will dry flat ,most French paint is fine now ,it got bad reputation with Brits because of poor coverage but this was because it was formulated for plastered walls ,now its plasterboard everywhere and the paint is now formulated for this.

We've always found Castorama paint to be very good (compared to most French paint!). We buy their own label 'Casto', satin finish for exterior wood and it's very good.

(You might already know but Castorama is part of the Kingfisher Group, same as B&Q).

Not the answer you want but just to suggest you are careful not to try anything water based.  It will just make the paper bubble up.
