Thanks for all the suggestions.  I've gone with Lycamobile.

Remember that you will need to have an unlocked phone if you want to put another SIM  into your current phone.I can also recommend Lycamobile

Lycamobile and no monthly charges whatsoever. Top up and off you go and as long as you make at least one call/text every 90 days you keep the phone number

Hi, for me Le Clerc mini for the same  reasons as above is the  best.

Have a look at the Leclerc tariffs - http://www.leclercmobile.fr/#xtor=CS1-1-[ARCHE]

I have the MINI+. There is a charge of €1.50 per month but that also includes calls or texts up to that value. The charge is taken from your balance every month and it is up to you whether you use it for calls/texts or not.

There is no time limit in which to use your balance, unlike most providers but I think you need to make a call every 6 or 12  months just to keep it activated, but I could be confusing that with another provider!!!!

You would need to go into one of their stores to buy a SIM, as you would need to provide ID like a passport.

Hope that helps.
