Hello

We have recently had our roof area insulated and boarded by Paul Butler. Very happy with the work and yes he always turned up.

Paul BUTLER <butler.paul@wanadoo.fr>

Best wishes Mary

thank you for replies part of the loft is already insulated  the floor is very well insulated it is just finishing one side off the plasterboarding or using osb to keep it clean so i can store some stuff.

work was started but then there was illness so left unfinished - i just want it tidy that's it really and i can't do it myself. i don't want to spend a fortune and if it will cost a lot i'll re think i just wanted a couple of quotes

Here is a list of RGE qualified artisans who are professionals in insulation close to Rostrenen.

For those interested the ADEME web-site shows what needs to be done to qualify for RGE status.

Not specialist at all whizzy most VELUX and Windows and even normal insulatin meet these standards unless your local merchant is Brico Depot !

It's about the U values, there's plenty of courses available to registered artisans to get up to the latest standards

Unless you go for very spcialist doors and windows then it's 10% and the general building work associated with what the poster wanted ie studwork, plasterboarding etc is also 10%.

We are fully registered and insured and in all of our 27yrs here we have yet to find materials that are not prohibitably expensive that will come under 5.5% rule - most people such as the poster (read the original post) just want to do general work - the poster never mentioned anything that would save them a great deal of money in less TVA - after they would have paid out a fortune to qualify for it!

For your general work it's now 10%.

Brian61 is correct 5.5% is applicable to all energy saving works carried out by correctly registered artisans for instance insulation Windows doors fosse etc

brian61 - TVA hasn't been 5.5% for ages, it went to 7% and is now 10% if you qualify.

In my opinion you should take a little time to investigate ways of reducing the cost of insulating your loft. The cost of the material and labour should have the extra low VAT band of 5.5% applied. If you use an artisan with RGE qualifications and use insulation up to certain standards then you can claim a %age of the cost of materials up to 16000€ back from the tax man (declared on your next tax form and paid at the end of that year ie work done 2016, delared Spring 2017, rebate paid Autumn 2017). Additionally, suppliers of energy have to show to the Govt that they are doing a max to reduce energy dependance so they have schemes where they will re-imburse some of the cost of your insulation but you must complete their documentation and have it approved before signing a devis (I have done this with Leclerc but it was hard going, they paid me with vouchers to spend in one of their shops).

Hope that this helps.
