I am not near the coast - it is 9km away.

Seagulls are around but they would steal the fruit first - raspberries and strawberies but they haven't.

The strangest thing is that I planted them around the outside of my tomato plants along with garlic and the garlic is still there!!!

They were growing well with green growth and were very healthy. I also planted letti in between them and they are still there.

Maybe it will always remain a mystery!!!!

When I lived near the sea the seagulls used to pull up the shallots and take them away.  Are you near the coast?

Why would anyone want to steal my shallots? It seems bizarre as no-one can see my veg garden from the road and there were strawberries and toms to steal as well!!!

Thanks for your replies - yes all has gone and every shallot too.
