a soil test needs to be done to know what kind of fosse septic you have to install. it all depends on your land, sandy, rocky, clay etc...

the guy from the etude de sol will dig several small holes in your garden and inspect the sand at different places to see what is possible. they will then put everything in plan for you, how big your fosse needs to be, how to lay out the field, how deep, all the levels etc. you will get a whole book with plans etc and a detailed description of the whole situation. With this plan it is easy to install a fosse yourself if you have a digger :)

then the bureau who did the etude will send off your plans to Spanc etc who will come out to inspect the installation when you are in progress (before you close everything back up with sand) and give you teh certificate, this will cost around 125 euros!

an etude de sol cost about 400 euros!! a bit much, not sure if it is obligatory but Spanc wants to see plans and know about the type of land etc.
