We have roto in the main house good quality 7 yrs old and no issues. For the office we installed velux from brico depot made in slovakia or slovenia again very good quality and 3 yrs on no issues. Many of the old autro hungarian empire countries had good engineering and that is re establishing itself nowadays think skoda they cast the london eye!

So if brico is near you i would not hesitate buying from them.

Hi, Originally we had Velux roof windows installed. Many years down the line, have replaced two with Leroy Merlin own brand Argon filled. They do a good range of sizes and their prices are less than the Velux make. You will need  their flashing that fits the revelant size. If you apply for the LM card, you get 5% off on a nominated purchase, (useable from the day you get the card) useful if you have a big project, it's valid for 3 years , costs 25€,  you also get notified of their 10% reduction in store days. You will need an RIB, ID, and carte bancaire. We have been very pleased with their quality.

If you are having them installed by a professional registered roofer , you will probably find he will only charge 5% TVA .

Probably colt roto which are fine, have fitted quite a few over the years ,eventually the sealed units go on all of them and the flashings discolour, whether they are velux or not.

We've just bought some Leroy Merlin own brand ones, cheaper  than Velux but just as good apparently.

The versions sold in the various bricos are fine ,a lot cheaper than the velux brand ,the means of escape windows are the larger size around a metre by a metre, normally the means of escape windows are only required on floors where a room does not exit into a hallway which exits direct to the outside ,I'm not even sure if these regs apply in france,.

Roto roof windows are also popular in both France and Germany - might be worth checking out that brand.

Thanks, yes, we are going to have at least two that are escape windows as they will be on the third floor!

Still hoping to get some replies about costs please.

Thanks

We have recently had a renovation done using Velux - maybe worth considering top hinged versions in some locations. We found before the central swivel can get water logged and cause water to come into the house if left open - less of a problem with the top hinged. Besides if you are upstais the top hinged also can be used as fire escapes. Dont bother buying in UK France is up to 50% cheaper!
