our range extender runs from the signal it picks up from the livebox. Phone works fine!!

.Remember if you dump your livebox to get a cheap wifi extender you will not be able to use the phone-out facility that you get with orange on their livebox.

we bought a belkin range extender on ebay from poland to extend the wifi into an adjacent building. easy to install.

If you mean a "live plug" they use you house power cabling as for networking and so long as this isn't too shabby they work like a dream.

They work more or less out of the box, when you first install you have to press a button on each unit so that they "talk" to each other and that's about it.

Broadly they'll work over pretty much any distance so long as they're on the same power supply (and if you have 3 phase on the same phase)
