If you have a phone line or one can be installed for a reasonable cost then I'd use orange and do the sums to see if you're better off with a Maison Secondaire contract or a normal one.

To avoid the potential for punters to run up a phone bill, use a generic modem/router rather than a live box which should make it nigh on impossible for a phone to be connected and used on your account.

Re my earlier post

Spoke to someone at France Telecom/Orange just now who informed me that they have recently introduced a new scheme which allows you to switch on and switch off to WiFi. It costs Euros 41 per month and you can just have WiFi for certain months of the year and pay accordingly. On the face of it this plan would suit me quite well. Six months usage would cost Euros 246, a lot less than an annual contract.

Has anybody out there got experience of this contract?
