I've paid on line up to 4 weeks after I made the crossing. I simply forgot. There was no problem. It was quick and simple. You don't have to pay in advance. I do agree tho' that for foreigners it must be very confusing.

Hi

You can also call the phoneline  and pay by card. It costs £5.00 for a car.

You are ok as long as you pay before midnight of the day you have travelled. Sorry don't have the number here.

It is such a stupid system and yes, as remarked, how are you supposed to know you have to pay in advance? May be you do not have a computer to buy a ticket on line and do not know what a pay point looks like. What is a pay point?

But how are you supposed to know and what happens if you arrive not knowing this?   I have friends also coming from Europe who don't know this, or won't know about paying in advance.

You can pay on line or at a pay point.
