My apologies to Buster - Normandy! It was back today - clearly my memory was not as good as the picture we managed to get and yes Buster it is (we think) a juvenile nightingale. will try to post it on the fb page

googled redwing and unfortunately  its not one of those - the thing about the one i saw is that i would say the colour was flat not mottled (dappled) like a redwing or thrush.

been watching out for him today but no luck.

what we have got though is a wonderful nuthatch, treecreepers and some woodpeckers - with some decent pictures

We really have enjoyed watching our garden birds this spring.

The cuckoo has been very vocal in our area (Roscoff) this year. We haven't noticed it other years.

hi Flantheman - not a female blackbird i dont think. OH saw it before me anddescribed it to me;  my first thought before seeing it was female blackbird. however couple of dayslater it wasback and i saw it - pretty sure not a female blackbird as the colurs was even without mottling and the diference between the back/chest  and the wings was very distinctive. Is it possibly a juvenile blackbird I wonder?

Will try to get a picture - will post it on the bird website if i can/do

Hi Plophf.  Not knowing your level of knowledge, could it be a female blackbird?
