If there is a good probability of eventually settling in France it's not as simple as that! Registering trailers in France can be a nightmare. If buying secondhand in the UK ask the manufacturer if they can supply a Certificate of Conformity and any other paperwork that you might need to register the trailer in France. Ifor Williams is the best bet. if you are buying a trailer you might as well buy one that will be easy to register here.

You will be fine with a UK registered trailer until you make your mind up. No different to towing a caravan. You're not living here (yet).
