Dibbyspot, UK Immigration never have been responsible for checking animals. DEFRA have always delegated the responsibility to the carriers.

Tapeworm treatment is now only required for dogs -

Dibbyspot - animals are checked for chip, vaccination, etc. at the port of departure so checks not required on entry to the UK

It wonder as on our recent return from Brittany to UK at Portsmouth we were told by UK Border Force said they would not be checking pet passport as no vets were at the port. Raised this with border Force who helpfully said  - "not our job please refer to DEFRA!" Makes me wonder how long UK will remain rabies free with such attitudes - depending on responsible pet owners doing the right thing.

With such an attitude in agencies of the UK Government I'm not surprised vets have been in the dark.

Only dogs need a tapeworm treatment prior to returning to the UK so probably the vet has not kept up with the legislation.
