I would think that your best bet is to have a look at your local Loxam plant hire depot and see how much it will cost to hire an electric telescopic platform. A lot quicker than struggling with scaffolding. Alternatively, see if you have a farmer with an all terrain forklift with a telescopic boom with a bucket (godet). You just stand in the bucket and use your power washer with no risk at all of falling. allan

It would certainly have been simpler but unfortunately I have already jet washed a third of the wall at the lower level and the problem is without a lot of tall scaffolding I cant reach the top of the gable wall. I thought there may have been some sort of solvent that could be sprayed onto the wall without damaging the granite.

It seems a shame to clean away all the lichens and patinas of years. Why not just rake out the joints and repoint? allan
