At the moment all seem to think that the best option is a new engine, I dont even think that I can get it to the garage. Maybe the sinking option if it would get to the sea (down hill) might be a better option and less expensive. Does anyone want a mondeo, customer collects!

Checkout http://www.vege.nl/ - they have distributers all over Europe for their engine rebuilding facility. I had a VW engine rebuilt with them last year via a UK garage and the garage reckoned it was cheaper and better rebuild quality to have vege do the work rather than an independant mechanic. They offer a one year unlimited milage guarantee too. Good luck

Based on experience,  it will cost you less to source a recon/exchange engine in UK and pay for it to be shipped down here.

You may get one at a scrapyard here but you would need to be sure it was OK as they will not normally give a guarantee worth anything.
