Thanks for your information.

Have decided to stop half way between Nice and Venive for the night (somewhere in the region of Piacenza/Parma/Mantova/Brescia), so looking for a pretty/interesting town or village not too far from the motorway. I don't know this region at all, so would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks

Hi,

I did this trip last July with 2 children with 2 stop it took about 5 and half hrs, it was actually a really easy drive. We left about 10.00am and didnt put ourselves under any pressure.

I would suggest you keep driving or if you have a few days maybe go to Pisa if you havent been about 4 hrs and then across to Venice about 2.5 hrs, we did this on the way back.

Hope this helps.

Have a great trip

I can't recommend a stopover point, but any of the following websites can help you determine driving distances, routes, petrol costs (depending on the size of your car and route) and tolls etc. Just use the "itinerary" or "directions" functions with Nice as a starting point and Venice as your destination:

http://maps.google.com/
http://fr.mappy.com/itinerary_homepage
http://www.mapquest.fr/mq/home.do

I'm sure there are other sites but these are quite good, particularly Google Maps and Mappy.
